Shake Your Maracas!

Hi Scribblers!

I hope you had a great weekend! This past weekend, I enjoyed a nice family reunion with probably at lease 15 kids running around and man!- do they like to make noise!! We listened to them banging on the piano, screaming in the pool and dancing in the kitchen! This got me thinking of a fun little toy to make with the little ones- homemade maracas!

With this fun little craft, your little ones can shake the maracas to make their own music (they’ll love the sound!), and dance as they twist and shout!

To help your little ones make their own maracas, you will need:

- 2 paper plates
- a handful of raw macaroni or beans
- acrylic paint
- a jumbo-size popsicle stick
- tacky glue
- colorful markers or crayons
- feathers or pipe cleaners

To start, encourage your little ones to explore their creativity using fun shapes and colors to color in the BACK of the plates and popsicle stick.

Place the macaroni into one of the plates and glue one end of the popsicle stick onto the inside of the plate and add the decorative feathers at the opposite end of the plate.

Using a lot of glue, trace the rim of the same plate, and place the other plate on top to seal in the macaroni.

Press firmly around the rim of the plate and let dry for several hours.

Once dry, start shakin’!
