Meet Carlos

Hi Scribblers!

You’ve almost met all of the Scribble Friends! Have you printed out and colored in your Scribble Man, Eraser Man, Zippy and Kimmi friends?

Today, I’d like you to meet Carlos!

Carlos is the most fearful and giggliest scribbler in Scribble Town. He’s wary of the unknown, although that’s not to say you can’t coax him into trying something new with a little friendly encouragement! When Carlos is nervous he talks a mile a minute. He gets the giggles whenever Kimmi is around. He’s also the only scribbler who is afraid to scribble! “What if it comes out wrong?” he thinks. Carlos will always go along on adventures. His soft spot for Kimmi leads him into trying new things and exploring places that he would normally be afraid of. Once he is coaxed, he will try things (including drawing) and he is usually glad that he did!

Click, download and print Carlos to take him with you on your daily adventures. Don’t forget, we would love to see where you go with the Scribble Friends so be sure to post a picture on our wall or send us a picture via email.

Imagination at Play

Hi Scribblers,

I really believe that it is good to use your imagination and have a good time.

Imagination at Play, by Andi Thea

I did this scribble because I was thinking about our newest website in development and that whatever comes to mind, you can make happen if you focus on it and taking it one step at a time.

Sometimes I get these random thoughts in my head and when that happens, I scribble!  When I was thinking about the upcoming website,  I was thinking about how to get traffic to it, who would be interested in supporting us and who our target audience would be. I  was thinking it is really important to put people in your life who can help you reach your goals and make your dreams come true and most importantly,  having people in your life that you enjoy being with– then, the rest is just fun and play.

An Early Scribble Town Scribble

Hello Scribblers,

I was looking over some of my old scribbles today when I came across this:

On the Town, by Andi Thea

This “On the Town” scribble was something I did years ago when I was working on a product for my toy company, Scribble Mats. Though this may look like a busy drawing, “On the Town” was actually the creative inspiration for Scribble Town!

To me, Scribble Town has always stood to represent a place that would serve as a Home to Scribblers Everywhere and a place to Inspire Creativity. I really think art and creativity is an important part of learning and an integral part of expressing oneself.

You can download the “On the Town” scribble to print and color it in. Or if you’d like, why don’t you show us a drawing of your home town!

Don’t forget, the first 3 people to post a picture of their drawings on our wins a free Scribble Book!

Found Art!

Hi Scribblers!

As you know, I love ART!- DIY art, professional art and even FOUND ART. Everywhere you look, art can be found. Sometimes it’s just a scribble of chalk on the street, sometimes it’s a graffiti mural on a wall, and sometimes it’s a pile of scraps that for some reason, you found beautiful!

When I was in Santa Monica, I went to the Border Grill restaurant. The restaurant was amazing- there was art from floor to ceiling! This huge mural was on the wall when I walked in.

A mural from the Border Grill Restaurant

I just loved the way the colors complemented eachother and the unique look of the people in the painting. The art was so big, colorful and cheerful, it just made me happy!

Have you come across art in the streets, in restaurants or in nature? Next time you see something that inspires you, snap a picture and post to our wall. We’ll add it to our album (an album of art made by YOU and art found in interesting places) so everyone can see what you found!

Happy Scribbling!

Inspiration from a Teacher!

by Megan Minutillo

Hi Scribblers!

My name is Megan and I’m so excited to be sharing with you my Scribblinspriation! I find that stories and words can often inspire the coolest pictures! I often hear a story, and read a story, and my mind just starts to imagine all sorts of characters, shapes, situations, and pictures. One of my favorite authors is Shel Silverstein, and his book of poems, “Where the Sidewalk Ends”.

Oh my friends, this is such a wonderful book! The poems and drawings that Mr. Silverstein draws will just ignite my imagination! One of my absolute, all time favorite poems is, “Sick”.

“I cannot go to school today,”
Said little Peggy Ann McKay.
“I have the measles and the mumps,
A gash, a rash and purple bumps.
My mouth is wet, my throat is dry,
I’m going blind in my right eye.
My tonsils are as big as rocks,
I’ve counted sixteen chicken pox
And there’s one more–that’s seventeen,
And don’t you think my face looks green?
My leg is cut–my eyes are blue–
It might be instamatic flu…
I have a hangnail, and my heart is–what?
What’s that? What’s that you say?
You say today is. . .Saturday?”

I picture Peggy Ann having multi-colored bumps all over her body – kind of like chicken pox, EXCEPT the bumps are all the colors of the rainbow.  They are purple, pink, blue, orange, red, yellow, green, and maybe some sparkle, and maybe some are different shapes…but they are ALL over her body.

But then I picture the sun shining, all yellow and big and smiley.  And then Peggy Ann’s parent says that it’s Saturday, and she realizes she’s not sick! The colored bumps disappear, and Peggy Ann is off to play with her friends, and have a new adventure.

If you like, “Sick”, and the fun drawings and stories that can come from one little poem, you should check out the rest of Shel Silverstein’s work! A light in the Attic, Falling Up, and The Giving Tree, are all favorites of mine.

So pick up a story, a crayon, a marker, and/or a pen, and start reading and scribbling! It’ll be fun.

Happy Scribbling!

Your Friend,

Megan

Yikes, Tremors and QUAKES- Oh My!

Hi Scribblers,

As most of you probably know, there was an earthquake on the East Coast today! I have lived in NYC for years- I knew we were on a fault line, but I have never felt an earthquake- I thought that only happened on the West Coast! At first I didn’t quite know what was going on…. was it construction?….a terrorist attack? The first thing I felt were slight tremors going through my body, Knowme, my dog, started barking and then things on the shelves started to rattle as I felt the ground shake!

Once the walls were shaking, I knew it was an earthquake but I was completely caught off guard. After making sure my co-workers, friends and family were okay, I watched the news and then immediately felt the need to scribble!

Yikes, Tremors and Quakes, by Andi Thea

This is what came out of me after all the stress and tension. The words going around the scribble are a mixture of what I was hearing, thinking and feeling.

Now that I know everyone is okay and nothing more is expected, it’s kind of oddly exciting…I now know what it feels like to experience a quake!

Did you feel the earthquake? What’s your quake story? I’d l it in a scribble! Share with us :)

Sunny days for Creative Inspiration!

Good Morning Scribblers,

As I sat at my desk this morning, I was kind of hypnotized by the view from the Scribble Town window. The light reflecting off the water was just so relaxing!

The view from Scribble Town!

As you may have noticed, there are a bunch of crafts in progress on the bottom of the page. These are some of the things we are currently working on at Scribble Town.

What projects are you and your little scribblers working on? What scenes relax and inspire you?
