Today is Tell a Story Day!
Hi Scribblers!
Today, April 27th is National Tell a Story Day! Today is a great day to tell a story- any kind of story- any way you can. You can write a story of your childhood, write your own fairy tale or mystery, or tell the story of you in scrap book!
To craft your own story, here are a few supplies that may help!
Create your own story! Have you ever wanted to write your own mystery, fairytale, fiction or non-fiction story? Get writing! Sometimes simply carrying around a notebook to jot down sparks of inspiration (this can happen on a bus, in a coffee shop, in line at a store, at work-anywhere!) can really get the momentum going to start writing a really great story!
Have you always wanted to tell your family story? Are your little ones growing fast and you want to find a way to cherish the memories of when they were young? Make your own scrapbook!
Both of these projects can be jazzed up with simple to ritzy embellishments. Have fun!

Today is World Book Day!
Hi Scribblers!
Today, April 23rd, is World Book Day! The date, April 23rd, was settled on to pay tribute to two great authors- William Shakespeare, author of many great plays, such as Romeo and Juliet, and Miguel de Cervantes, author of Don Quixote. Both of the renowned authors died on April 23rd and so the day is now celebrated as a day to encourage reading! Today, sit down with your little ones and engage in a family reading time. Take turns reading portions of a book together. If your family is really adventurous, assign each person a part to act out as they read their part of the book! Doing this is a great way to make reading fun and bond as a family.
Happy reading!
You can find some fun early learning book on Scribble Shop.com!

And of course, fun books for Mom and Dad too!

Kindergarten Day!
Hi Scribblers!
Tomorrow, April 21st is Kindergarten Day! In 1837, Friedrich Froebel started the first Kindergarten in Germany. Froebel built the school on the principles of the innate interests and curiosities of children and formatted to the way children learn best; through song and play, arts & crafts and close interaction with nature!

I’m sure you can look back with joy on your early days as a kindergartener! This year, play with the principles Froebel based Kindergarten on- encourage and inspire creativity in your kids through arts & crafts! Once a week, make time to sit down with the family to do an after-dinner-scribble. With one piece of paper, have everyone take turns drawing/coloring/scribbling and add to the picture. Create a story, a scene or try encouraging the family to show something they observed in nature. Have everyone participate and share in giggles as you sit back to look at your finished art!
Get Ready for Earth Day!
Hi Scribblers!
Earth Day is just around the corner! Earth Day is celebrated on April 22nd and it is a great time to think about all the wonderful things the Earth provides for us! Precipitation (rain), air to breathe, etc. The earth’s atmosphere makes it so we have air to breathe and creates and atmosphere in which we can have rain and the water cycle. The rain from the water cycle provides water for us drink, keeps the Earth cool, and waters plants and gardens!
To celebrate Earth Day, create your own terrarium! A terrarium is a small indoor garden.
To make your own terrarium, you will need:
- A clear container with a lid (a pretzel jar from Costco should do the trick!)
- Soil
- Water
- Seeds for grass or flowers
Clean out the clear container and lay sideways. Fill with soil so that it reaches just the bottom rim of the opening of the jar.
Sprinkle seeds and lightly press into the soil.
Pour a small amount of water onto the soil to lightly coat the top layer.
Keeping the container on it’s side, close the lid and place your terrarium on a window sill. It needs to be in sunlight to work!
Now here, patience is a virtue! You will not need to re-water or re-open your garden. The warmth of the sun will cause condensation (drops of water) to form inside the container. Then, those drops of water will fall and will re-water the soil. After a week of so, you should start to see your garden grow! This is a great learning activity to do with your kids to teach them about the water cycle! Your kids will be sure to buzz with excitement as the plants begin to grow!
Today is Pet Owner’s Day!
Hi Scribblers!
Are you a pet owner? Well, guess what? Today is National Pet Owner’s Day! I guess that means it’s a day for us to celebrate being the proud owners (or parents) or our little furballs. I know I’m happy to have my little Knowme. I always say, “to know me, is to love me” and that is how I came to name my little pup, “Knowme!” She is such a loveable little dachshund!
Now while some people go to the extremes…
I decided to tone it down a bit (not that that isn’t hilarious), and make a cute petmat for my little pup!
To make this craft, you will need:
- Black Foam Sheet
- Red Glitter Foam
- Glitter in White
- Tacky Glue
- Scissors
Simply use your creativity and make a fun petmat for your pets! Share picture of your finished mats with us on our page!
A DIY Spring Headband
Hi Scribblers!
Do you love to make your own accessories? Try this fun headband that has just the right colors for Spring!
To make this craft, you will need:
-Tulle- Pink, Yellow, Blue
- Scissors
- A Hair Elastic
To start, wrap a piece of tulle around your head to determine the appropriate length. Cut three strips, one of each color (Pink, Green, Purple). Tie one end of the three pieces of tulle to the hair elastic.
A small bit of the end of the tulle may remain; that’s okay. Begin braiding the colors and simply braid the left over end into it.

Continue with your braid until you make it to the end.
Tie the end to the same hair elastic. Trim any left over pieces.
Style your hair and rock your creativity with your new stylish headband!
