Long-limbed dancers!

Hi Scribblers,

Check out this funky sculpture I came across in Denver.

Dancers, by Jonathan Borofsky

This sculpture, by Jonathan Borofsky is truly compelling. Just seeing it up close really moved me- literally! I wanted to get up and dance with the sculpted dancers!

Jonathan Borofsky is a sculptor and print maker who lives and works in Maine. Borofsky uses bright colors and long lines  and tends to work with  the human form in his artwork. The bright colors really add a happy feeling to the art, and the white sculptures really leave more to the imagination- isn’t that fun?!

You can see more of Borofsky’s work on his website here.

Shake Your Maracas!

Hi Scribblers!

I hope you had a great weekend! This past weekend, I enjoyed a nice family reunion with probably at lease 15 kids running around and man!- do they like to make noise!! We listened to them banging on the piano, screaming in the pool and dancing in the kitchen! This got me thinking of a fun little toy to make with the little ones- homemade maracas!

With this fun little craft, your little ones can shake the maracas to make their own music (they’ll love the sound!), and dance as they twist and shout!

To help your little ones make their own maracas, you will need:

- 2 paper plates
- a handful of raw macaroni or beans
- acrylic paint
- a jumbo-size popsicle stick
- tacky glue
- colorful markers or crayons
- feathers or pipe cleaners

To start, encourage your little ones to explore their creativity using fun shapes and colors to color in the BACK of the plates and popsicle stick.

Place the macaroni into one of the plates and glue one end of the popsicle stick onto the inside of the plate and add the decorative feathers at the opposite end of the plate.

Using a lot of glue, trace the rim of the same plate, and place the other plate on top to seal in the macaroni.

Press firmly around the rim of the plate and let dry for several hours.

Once dry, start shakin’!

Summer Scribbles!

Hi Scribblers!

I hope you’ve been having a wonderful summer! Even though there is much to enjoy in the summer, do you take time to sit down with your little ones to inspire creativity? It doesn’t take much time, just sit down and talk! Ask them what there favorite summer adventure has been so far, what did they enjoy most on vacation, or what they are looking forward to when they go back to school. Once you have discussed some fun memories or things to look forward to, get crafting! You can draw the memory, or even build it with craft supplies!

Even if your little ones aren’t creatively adventurous, you can still get their inner scribbler active with a fun coloring page!

Try this Summer Fun page! Just click on the image, download and print!

Fun at CHA

Last week I attended the Craft and Hobby Association Trade Show in Chicago. I had a great time talking to manufacturers about their new products and some of my all time favorites.  I spent time meeting with crafty bloggers and wonderfully creative designers. I was so excited to spend time with two past Scribble Challenge bloggers, Vicki from the Creative Goddess and Jenny from Craft Test Dummies.

Jenny even brought her craft from the Scribble Challenge as a gift for me. That was so kind of her to carry it all the way to Chicago!  Thank you Jenny!!!

Next up….The Blogher Conference in NYC the first week of August.  I am looking forward to meeting up with many more Scribble Challenge Bloggers for a wonderful weekend of fun and learning.

Will you be there? Please let me know! It would be my pleasure top meet up and get to know you.
