Make Your Own Linzer Heart Tarts!

Whether you’re looking for something sweet for your loved one, or trying to create a unique snack to bring to a party, these tasty Linzer Heart Tarts will be the perfect treat from you!

To make this treat, you will need:

- Heart Shaped Cookie Cutters
- A Cookie Sheet
- Parchment Paper

For the recipe, you will need:

-4 cups of All-Purpose Flour
-1/4 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 2 teaspoons Pure Vanilla Extract
- 1 cup powdered confectioners sugar
- 1/2- 1 cup Raspberry Jam or homemade preserves

To make,  mix flour and salt in a medium bow. In a seperate large bowl, beat butter with a mixer until smooth. Add sugar and again beat until smooth. Beat in Vanilla Extract. Slowly add the flour/salt mix to the butter/sugar mix.  If you feel your mix is too dry, add the 1/4 cup of water.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough so that it is about 1/4″ thick. Using the large heart shaped cookie cutter, cut out as many heart shapes as your dough will allow.

Place the hear shapes onto a parchment paper lined cookie sheet. Using the small heart shaped cookie cutter, again press the cookie cutter into the center of the heart shape. It is easiest to do this step once the large heart shape is already on the parchment paper. If the small heart shape does not lift out with the cookie cutter, simply use a toothpick to help you lift it out. Refrigerate cookies on the cookie sheet for 20 minutes. This will help the cookies keep their shape while baking.

Bake cookies at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes. Cookies should be light golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool.

Lay out your cookies onto parchment paper. Using additional powdered confectioners sugar, lightly dust the hearth shape with the center cut out. Cover the whole heart shape with a layer of raspberry Jam.

Place the powdered cookie on top of the cookie with jam and press down lightly.

Plate your cookies and present!

Enjoy!

Using acrylic enamel, be inspired by love, hearts and X’s &  O’s to present something special when you sit down for Valentine’s Dinner! This can also be done with wine glasses!

Here’s a tip: find heart shapes and patterns that you love from magazines, stickers, ads, etc., then tape them to the inside of the glass to create a Valentine’s look or pattern. Once you have found that special look, trace the shapes and outlines of the words with the acrylic paint (Try using Plaid Folk Art Enamels in Metallic Gold, Metallic Silver and Engine Red). So simple !

Make a Decorative Decoupage Keepsake Box

Hi Scribblers!

Looking to give something new this Valentine’s Day? Decoupage a paper mache box with a Valentine’s Day theme to present your gifts! This box is a gift of it’s own and it’s a great way to add a personal touch to the gifts you give to your special someone! The best part is, the box can be reused as a keepsake box to store recipes, fabric scraps, photos and more!

To make this craft, you will need:
- Colorful Tissue Paper
- A Paper Mache Box
- Mod Podge
- A Paint Brush
- A Sponge Brush (or SAVE on the value pack!)
- Scissors
- Extreme Glitter Paint in Purple, Champagne and Aqua
- Red Velvet Ribbon
- Tacky Glue

To start, try cutting out varying sizes of Valentine’s Day themed shapes. Try hearts, X’s and O’s, or maybe lips! I used different shapes and sizes of hearts to decorate my box. When it comes to decoupaging with tissue paper, more is more. I used a few shades of pink and red, and a few extra accent colors in gold and turquoise.

After you have cut out your tissue paper shapes, let the decoupaging begin! Using the Mod Podge, lightly brush a clean coat on one side of the tissue paper cut out.

Gently pick up the piece covered in decoupage and place onto the box. Smooth out any wrinkles with your fingers (however, keep in mind wrinkles can add to the charm of it too!), and then add your next cut out piece. Layer the pieces until you have completely covered your box.

Next, add embellishment using the Extreme Glitter acrylic paint.

When you have finished adding the glitter paint, let this paint dry and then completely cover the box with another layer of Mod Podge to seal everything down.

Using a little creativity, add a few finishing touches. I added Red Felt ribbon to make a trim and a bow.

What will you try?
