A Scribbley Approach to Inspiring Creativity (part 1)
Hi Scribblers!
My name is Andi. You may remember me- I’m the Chief Scribbler at Scribble Town! Since I was little girl, I have always loved everything creative. My heart was always happiest when I sat down with a pen and paper to just scribble and create new things. Sometimes, however, it can be hard to find that spark of inspiration to get you on the right track, so for today, I wanted to share with you some tips on Inspiring Creativity!
- Get out, try new things. Go for a walk. Take the time to experience the sights, sounds and smells that are all around you. You will be able to draw upon your new experiences for inspiration.
- Keep an idea folder. Every time you see something that you find interesting, place it in a folder, or file it in your computer or on Pinterest.
- Carry a Sketchbook. Sketchbooks are great; scribble your ideas and your thoughts. Instead of writing out your thoughts, draw them! This is not intended to be for perfect drawings – it’s more of a diary for thoughts and inspiration. I like to date the pages because it’s fun to thumb through them later and remember where I was and what inspired me.
- Look and see. Really look at an object or work of art and allow it to speak to you. If you sit quietly and study the object you will see all types of things that you didn’t notice on first glance. Look at the shape, the color, do the shapes and colors repeat themselves? Use that experience to draw from when you create your next project.
- Experiment. Adding just one new element to something you are working on can really spice things up! Take risks, challenge yourself and see what you come up with. Don’t be afraid to experiment.
I hope these tips get your creative wheels turning! Start right now! Try one (or more) of these tips and see what you create. Don’t forget, you can always share your finished creations with us here on Scribble Blog or on our wall!
